Method
- Pre-chill the cream in the refrigerator.
- Brew the espresso or coffee in any preferred way.
- Heat the milk until it boils.
- Finely chop the chocolate into small pieces and whisk it with a mixer or electric handheld whisk until melted and smooth. Tip: The finer the chocolate, the faster it will melt in the hot milk.
- Pour the chocolate and milk mixture into a serving glass.
- Slowly pour the espresso or strong coffee into the glass in a thin stream to avoid disrupting the chocolate layer.
- Whip the chilled cream with a mixer or electric handheld whisk until it is creamy.
- Carefully spoon the whipped cream into the glass, being mindful of not disturbing the layers.
- Sprinkle grated bitter chocolate or chocolate chips on top of the drink, if desired.
- To savor each layer separately, sip the Bicerin through a cocktail straw.
