This sweet autumn coffee drink, made with apple syrup, brown sugar, and milk, is the perfect seasonal treat. An incredible blend of invigorating coffee, soft milk, and sweet fruit will warm you up and put you in a good mood even on the most depressing wet day!
For the syrup (for 5 to 6 serves):
- In a small saucepan, put the diced apple, apple cider, brown sugar (which gives the syrup a caramel flavour), and cinnamon sticks. Place it over medium heat.
-
Bring to the boil and reduce the heat. Cook over medium-low heat for about 10 minutes, or until the apples are soft and the sugar has dissolved.
-
Remove from the heat and leave to infuse for 15 minutes.
-
Strain through a fine mesh sieve, crushing the apples well so that they give off their flavour.
-
Pour the syrup into a jar or airtight container and store it in the refrigerator for up to 10 days.
For a Macchiato:
- Brew the espresso or coffee in any preferred way.
-
For a hot beverage, preheat the milk.
-
Add the apple syrup, milk and coffee to the serving glass.
-
Stir everything up .
